If the zipper must be sewn between two layers (like in a toiletry bag), you can also choose the very quick one, as I do, namely simply sew around the teeth by hand a few times so that they are held together, and then cut off the remaining zipper. Pliers are a good idea if you don't want to ruin your scissors ;)
